MILLBURY Scott W. Bernier, a life long resident of 35 Sycamore St., died Tuesday, Nov. 8th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves a sister, Cynthia A. Lemieux of Millbury; his father, Roger R. Bernier of Brewster; two brothers, Michael R. Webber of La Vegas, NV and Roger M. Bernier of Lehigh Acres, FL ; a niece, Cheryl A. Protzeller and a nephew, Kurt A. Bernier; uncles and aunts. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Lorraine M. (Saucier) Bernier. He graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic High School in 1977 and then enlisted in the US Navy, where he served four years in Newport, R.I. and four years in California.
Scott was an apprentice chef at the Worcester Club for a year. He then worked at Bob BoninTM)s Ground Round in Shrewsbury for ten years and was a school bus driver for the town of Millbury for 8 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, including a member of the churchTM)s choir, itTM)s menTM)s vesper choir, the former bingo committee, the Mustard Seed Committee and an associate member of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a member of the American Legion Devoe-Taylor Post and a member of the Millbury Lions Club and served as chairman of the clubTM)s Journey for Sight and he received the Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship Award and the clubTM)s Lion of the Year Award 2004-2005. He enjoyed cooking and Scarborough Beach.
His funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 12th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11th, in the funeral home. The Millbury Lions Club will meet at 7:15 p.m. Friday for prayers. The Devoe-Taylor Post will meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday for prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church Renovation Fund.
