Shawn A. Savoie, 49, formerly of Southbridge, passed away on Wednesday, August 5th after a brief illness surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife, Robyn M. (Deschene) Savoie, two sons, Corey Savoie of Sutton and Ryan Savoie of Southbridge, one granddaughter, Gabriella, his mother, Constance (Cardin) Savoie and her husband Paul Champney of Holliston, his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Savoie of Southbridge, three brothers, Brian Savoie of Connecticut, Jeff Savoie and his wife Linda of Maryland, Scott Savoie of Webster, two sisters, Michelle Benoit and her husband Michael of Holland, Nicole Murphy and her husband Michael of Southbridge and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Raymond Savoie, Jr.
Shawn was employed at Millbury Jr./Sr. High School and Millbury Rubbish Removal. He treasured spending time with his family and friends and his beloved dog Dexter. He enjoyed exercising, woodworking, and watching sports, especially the Bruins.
Shawn touched the lives of many students at Millbury High school. He would not hesitate to lend a hand whether it was to help with after school activities such as athletics and performing arts or just to listen to a faculty member or student when they needed a friend to talk to.
Shawn's funeral will held on Monday, August 10th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury with a funeral mass at 10AM in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street in Millbury.
Calling hours are 5 to 8PM Sunday, August 9th in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Millbury Public Schools, 12 Martin Street, Millbury, MA for a memorial scholarship in the memory of Shawn Savoie.
