Sherman Hauber

October 24, 1913 — April 2, 2002

MILLBURY - Sherman A. Hauber, 88, formerly of Savona and Rochester, N.Y. died Tuesday, April 2, in the Providence House Nursing Home.

His wife of 58 years, Louise (Scudder) Hauber, died in 1993. He leaves two daughters, Linda Ann Campbell of Millbury and Mary Louise Brown of Rochester, N.Y.; a son, John D. Hauber of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister Anita Leonard of Savona, N.Y.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He was born in Campbell, N.Y. the son of John E. and Marion (Grenolds) Hauber. He graduated from Savona Central School.

Mr. Hauber was the owner of J. E. Hauber & Son Grocery Store in Savona, N. Y. He was actively involved in community service organizations in Savona including the Booster Club, Library Board, was a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Steuben County Boy Scout Committee. As a member of the Savona Federated Church, he taught Sunday School and served on several church boards. He later became a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Rochester, N.Y. He enjoyed gardening, family activities and sports, especially baseball.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Savona Federated Church, Church St., Savona, N.Y. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a preferred church or charity.
