Stanley Bien

April 4, 1924 — December 28, 2002

MILLBURY - Stanley Bien, 78, of 24 Howe Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 28, in the Hospice Residence, Judith Rd., Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Wanda V. (Bachuszewicz) Bien; four sons, Thomas J. Bien, Richard R. Bien, Christopher H. Bien and Francis Bien all of Millbury; two sisters, Jenny Wojnar of Grafton and Albina Nosel of Worcester; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother Frank Bien and a sister Sally Lojko predeceased him. He was born in Grafton, son of Thomas and Apolonia (Matuzek) Bien and moved to Millbury in 1962. He graudated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in Worcester.

Mr. Bien was a brick mason and owned and operated Bien Construction Company for the past 25 years. Previously he and his brother were home contractors, building home in the Millbury area. He was a Navy veteran during WW II, serving in Hawaaii. He played in his own Polish Band for 35 years.

He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church, the Polish National Home in Grafton and the Charles F. Minney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He was an avid fisherman and lobsterman at his summer home in Plymouth.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., ( www.mulhane.com ) with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice, Inc., Hospice Residence, in care of 120 Thomas St., Worcester, Ma. 01608. or to Rev. John Henault, Hati Missions, 29 Blackstone St., Sutton, Ma. 01590.
