MILLBURY - Stanley W. Wilczynski, 71, of 28 Wheelock Ave., died Thursday, Nov. 21, in his home, after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, "Jo" Lorraine A. (Boucher) Wilczynski; four sons, John Wilczynski of Millbury, Lee Wilczynski of Worcester, Chief Warrant Officer Stanley F. Wilczynski of Bourne and Andrew Wilczynski of Spencer; a daughter, Lisa Bennes of Millbury; three sisters, Monya Skutak of Millbury, Jane Stepanski and Irene Pietrowicz both of Worcester; nine grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by five brothers, Edward, Theodore, Henry, Chester and Charlie. He was born in Millbury son of Stanley A. and Helena A. (Gresinski) Wilczynski and has lived in Millbury all his life. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1949. He also attended Worcester Junior College.
Mr. Wilczynski worked for the Millbury Highway Department for many years, retiring in 1989. He was a Captain in the Millbury Fire Department, Engine 5, for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War, serving with the 7th infantry Division in the Battle of Baldy and Pork Chop Hill were he received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester, a member of the Millbury Veterans Council and chairman of the councilTM)s Memorial Monuments Committee and he was honored by the council last year with the presentation of his metals that he received during his service He established and was a former scout master of Boy Scout Troop 44 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the Singletary Road & Gun Club in Oxford and a Friendly Visitor for the Millbury Council on Aging. He was a former member of the Millbury Finance Committee, the Democratic Town Committee, the Millbury Recreation Committee Mohegan Boy Scouts Council and the MenTM)s Club of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester.
The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 25 from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., (

) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. Brigids Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Millbury Veterans Council, 127 Elm St., Millbury, Ma. 01527 or to the Dorothy Pond Watershed Association, 7 Warren St., Millbury, Ma. 01527. Members of the Millbury Veterans Council will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at the funeral home, to conduct a service.
