WORCESTER – Statia (Petka) Kasavich, 98, died Tuesday, January 31st in the Holden Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
Her husband, Bernard Kasavich died in 2003. She leaves a son, Richard B. Kasavich and his wife, of Holden and a daughter, Lillian M. Bruneau of Worcester; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother, Stanley Petka of Spring Valley, CA; a sister, Helen Lennon of Florida; nephews and nieces. She was born in Grafton and is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Stefania (Szarek) Petka. Statia was the oldest of nine children.
Statia was a founding member of the former St. Catherine of Sweden Church. She had formerly worked in the weaving and shoe industry.
A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of the Holden Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 32 Mayo Dr., Holden, MA 01520.
