Steven H. Callahan, 52, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was brave, courageous and spiritual in his fight against the disease.
Steve leaves seven siblings, Jack Callahan and his wife, Sue of Millbury, Jean Callahan-Hanley and her husband, Bob of Boynton Beach, FL, Bill Callahan of Attleboro, Mike Callahan and his wife, Jennifer of Sutton, Jim Callahan of Worcester, Milly Stanford of Northbridge and Kerri Couture and her husband, Bob of Oxford; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Carol (Provencher) Callahan.
Steve was a highly skilled Plasterer by trade working for many area companies throughout New England. He was incredibly quick witted. He knew how to make people laugh and not take things too seriously. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and sports, no matter the season. In winter, he was avid skier on the slopes of Mt. Killington. In summer, he loved trekking to Hampton Beach, skateboarding and biking. He was an unabashed Steelers fan, much to the chagrin of his siblings and friends. As a major music fan and concert buff, he literally attended hundreds of concerts and could name a tune and band like no other. He also was a very gifted artist and loved intricate drawing and detailed cartoons. He had a definite green thumb, always having a garden wherever he lived.
He was predeceased by his longtime love and close companion Mixdalia "Dolly" Lopez.
Steve's calling hours will be held on Wednesday Sept 4th from 5 to 7 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
