He is survived by his beloved daughters, Samantha Grahn-Dudley of Sterling and her husband Paul Dudley, and Rebecca Grahn of Harwich; his lifelong companion, Michelle Franchi Grahn; his brother, Barry Grahn and his wife Kathleen (Mears) Grahn; his nephews, Christopher Grahn and Matthew Grahn; his aunt, Ginny (Wilbur) Picking; his cousin, John Picking and his wife Nancy (Lynch) Picking; nephews and nieces Robert D Picking, Larissa (Picking) Mattrick, Scott Anderson and Valerie Anderson. He will also be greatly missed by many dear family and friends, especially his best friend Andrew Hinc and his wife Crystal (Eaton) Hinc, and his co-workers at Ballard Truck Center.
Born in Worcester, Steven grew up in and was a long-time resident of Millbury before moving to Leicester. Steven graduated from Saint John’s High School in 1981, then attended Wittenberg University in Ohio. From a young age, Steven was involved with and held several positions at the family business, Ballard Motor Sales, in Millbury. In 1988 the family business changed to Ballard Mack (later Ballard Truck Center) in Worcester, where Steven worked in the parts department and then became President. One of Steven’s most liked tasks at Ballard was writing his fun facts for the employee newsletter.
Steven had many interests. He liked keeping up with all his favorite sports teams and loved spending Sundays watching golf. Steven enjoyed playing golf and a good cigar (especially with his great friend Andrew). He spent hours taking care of his yard and took pride in having the greenest lawn on the street. Most of all, Steven enjoyed being at home spending time with his family and taking care of “all of his girls”.
Family and friends are invited to remember Steven’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, August 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. His funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th at 11 a.m. in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street in Worcester. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
