Steven Macarthur, Sr.

WORCESTER - Steven E. MacArthur Sr. 71, died Saturday, April 18th at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester due to complications brought on by the Covid-19 Virus.

He leaves behind two sons; Steven E. MacArthur Jr and his wife Amy of Rutland, and their children, Luke, Kyle & Cole and James M. MacArthur and his wife Jessica of Southbridge and their children, Mark, Havanna, James Jr. Ajay, Adalina & Rosalina. He also leaves his former wife Mary Mailea (MacArthur) and her husband James Mousseau of Millbury. He is survived by his sisters Debra A (McArthur) Schenk of Southbridge and Tammylou A (McArthur) Dasho, and her husband Bruce, of Paxton, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He is predeceased by his brothers James D. McArthur, Charles H McArthur Jr., David H. McArthur of Worcester, Randy C. MacArthur of Maryland and his sisters, Linda (MacArthur) Ruiz, of Worcester,  Donna J. (McArthur) Zielsdorf, & Tina M (McArthur) Halderman of Indiana.

He was born on June 25, 1948 in Worcester, MA. He was the son of the late Charles H. & Lulie A (Richards) McArthur Sr. He grew up in Worcester and eventually moved to California. While in California, he worked the Carnival Circut and was a Truck Driver. In 1974, he moved back to Massachusetts and worked as a machinist at Crompton & Knowles, Standard Foundry and Harrington & Richardson. He also worked for the Roy Rogers & McDonalds Restaurants on the Mass Turnpike. His final residence was the Meadows in Leicester MA.  Due to health restrictions at this difficult time, funeral arrangements are private. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to allow Steven's family and friends to come together to celebrate his life. Steven came from a large family, and loved when everyone would gather together. He was very proud of his two sons and all that they accomplished. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. Steven had bird feeders outside his window at the Meadows. Because of the current situation, he was not able to go outside. When his grandchildren would visit they would fill the feeders for him. Like so many others, this is how his recent visits happened. It always brought him a sense of joy and happiness. Steven loved to listen to music, especially Oldies and Country & Western, particularly Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers. In the late 70's, Steven was a member of the CB 10-20 Club in Worcester, MA. Back then he would gather with other family members and friends and go on convoys on the weekends.

His car was equipped with the tallest CB antenna you would ever want to see, he probably could pick up conversations from the Space Station. Steven's CB handle was "Big Scotty".  Steven loved working with his hands, he was always building something. Whether it was bookshelves, bird/bat houses or wishing wells. Steven was full of mischief, loved teasing and pulling pranks on his family members, especially his brothers and sisters, someone was always going to get "goosed". Steven's demeanor was one that was positive and upbeat. He was always in a good mood and definitely brought that feeling wherever he was and to who he was with. You would always have a smile on your face if you were spending time with him.

One more thing about Steven, he was very particular about his likes and anyone who knew him, knew that he loved his Oreo's, iced coffee and his PEPSI. There would be arguments over which soda was better, Coke or Pepsi, you could not fool him. So if there was ever a gathering, and he was going to be there, you can be sure there was a Pepsi for him.
