She was an avid bird watcher, gardener, nature lover and pet owner as well as a dedicated member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Her favorite pastime was feeding and observing birds and wildlife. She took pleasure in the fact that her infectious enthusiasm caused many others to take up this hobby. Sylvia had a caring and giving nature, spending most of her life selflessly helping friends and family. She enjoyed visiting Tower Hill Botanical Garden and other local nature sanctuaries. Some of her happiest memories were of summers spent working, and later, vacationing in Maine.
