MILLBURY --- Thomas N. Cristo, a lifelong resident of Dorothy Pond in Millbury passed away with dignity on April 15 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom had recently celebrated his 74th birthday. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Kathleen M. (McMenemy) Cristo; his son Jude T. Cristo and his wife Sandra of Millbury, his daughter, Darlene M. Papalardo (TomTM)s primary care giver) and her husband Robert of Millbury and his youngest daughter Hollie K. Finne and her husband Scott of North Brookfield. In addition Tom leaves: his twin grandchildren; Jennifer and Zachary Finne of North Brookfield; three extended grandchildren; Brenda Filiere and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury, Cynthia Romeo and her husband Mario of Millbury and Robert Papalardo II of Washington State; as well as five extended great grandchildren; Kailey, Mikey, Antonio, Emma, and Nina.

Tom was born the youngest of six children on April 9, 1935 in the family homestead in the Village on CristoTM)s Point to the late James W. Cristo Sr. and Mary (Janovsky) Cristo. As the son of hard working immigrants, Tom was proud of his Albanian and Czechoslovakian heritage and had a very happy childhood. He leaves behind his sister and best friend Margaret (Cristo) Boutilier of Millbury; two brothers; James W. Cristo Jr. of Shrewsbury and Joseph F. Cristo of Charlton. Two sisters; Helen (Cristo) Warren and Beatrice (Cristo) Trombowicz predeceased him. Uncle Tom also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he enjoyed, cherished, and provided advice to.
Tom was an ambitious and industrious young man who attended Millbury Public Schools. He worked at the former A&P market in Millbury while attending school; he served in the U.S. Army, and was a driver for American Oil during the construction of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Tom went to school part time and became a licensed Cosmetologist, first working for the Ambassador Beauty Salon in Worcester before opening the Diplomat Beauty Salon in Millbury. Prior to retirement, Tom also owned and operated 7th Avenue WomenTM)s Apparel, Diplomat House of Carpets & Wallpaper, Best Price Carpet, and CristoTM)s Rentals. As a successful small business owner Tom helped and encouraged others to start their own businesses.

He was an avid boater who, enjoyed water and snow skiing as well as deep sea fishing and gardening. Tom loved the ocean and loved to take his family on vacations and cruises to the Caribbean and Central and South America. He also enjoyed annual family vacations to Marco Island, Gloucester, Cape Cod and Hampton Beach. Recently Tom took his immediate family on a vacation to Jamaica.

His funeral will be held from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury on Tuesday April 21st with a celebration of TomTM)s life at a concelebrated Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday April 20 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury.
