MILLBURY - Thomas L. Dunford, 76, of 3 Sycamore Circle, died Thursday, April 3, in Northside Hospital and Heart Institute, St. Petersburg, Fl.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Muriel F. (Dumas) Dunford; three sons, Robert T. Dunford of Mission Viejo, Ca., Marc S. Dunford of Worcester and Kevin M. Dunford of Auburn; a sister, Joan Banks of Boylston; a grandson; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Louis T. and Julia (Donahue) Dunford and has lived in Millbury for 42 years. He graduated from the former Commerce High School and attended New England School of Accounting, both in Worcester.
Mr. Dunford was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1982 as manager of the Mail Classification Department, in Worcester. He was MillburyTM)s veteranTM)s agent from 1982 to 1988 and continued to be Millburys veterans grave officer, until the time of his death.
He was a Navy veteran serving in WW II and the Korean War in the Pacific Theater. He was president of the Millbury Little League for more than 30 years. He was a coach for the Millbury Little League Baseball and the Millbury Pee Wee Basketball. He received a Citizens Activist Award from the Citizens Action Network in 1988 and was the Honored Man of Distinction at the Millbury Old Timers Banquet, last year. He enjoyed golfing and was a sports enthusiasts
He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church and the Charles F. Minney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 10 from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., (

) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the funeral home. Members of the Charles F. Minney Post will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 for their ritual. Donations may be made to the Millbury Little League, in care of Ranolph Mogren, 8 Gould St., Millbury, Ma. 01527.
