Thomas W. Hackett, 69, passed away on Thursday, February 22nd after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Tom leaves his wife of forty-four years, Katherine E. (Clark) Hackett; his daughter, Elizabeth E. Smith and her husband, Kevin of Wellesley; his granddaughter, Whitney; his sisters-in-law, Joanne M. Daly and her husband, Kevin of Millbury and Martha A. Vorce and her husband, Alan of Marlboro. Tom, also, leaves nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas A. and Mary M. (Phelan) Hackett.
Tom was born in Worcester, September 3, 1948 and graduated from St. Stephen's High School. He was appointed to the Worcester Fire Department in February 1972 and proudly served the city for thirty-nine years. Most recently, Tom had served on Engine 3 at the Grove Street Fire Station and in the Fire Prevention division.
Tom enjoyed life and the family he cherished. He especially enjoyed summers on Cape Cod with family and friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, February 26th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
