ALBURQUERQUE, NM - Thomas Fisher Maynard, 82, also of Sutton, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018, surrounded by his wife and family.  He was born in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, to Olive Fisher Maynard and Atherton Rogers Maynard.

Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret O'Donnell Maynard, his children, Garth, Kelsey and Tim and their spouses, Sandy Salem Maynard, Craig Bright and Rebecca Young Maynard; step-children David Smith and Robert Smith and their spouses, Lariza Casana and Alexandra Freedman.  He is further survived by his ten grandchildren: Lia, Ali, Nathan, and Avery Maynard, Anna and Isabelle Bright, Anastasia, Josephine, Danika and Dorian Smith.  He also leaves his sister, Deborah Maynard Pixley of Vinalhaven, ME, brother, John Maynard of NYC and is pre-deceased by a sister, Joyce Maynard Bagg.

Tom is a graduate of Manhasset High School, on Long Island, and Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.  He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, and in the US Army Reserves.   He was an accomplished business leader and founding partner in Ontario Foods Inc., retiring in 1992.

Tom was a man of many interests.  He was life-long sailor, first learning at his family camp on Singletary Pond in Sutton, MA; racing and cruising his Laser 28 on Lake Ontario as a member of the Brockport and Oak Orchard Yacht Clubs, ultimately sailing his Valiant 40 across the Atlantic and throughout the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Caribbean.  He was an amateur radio operator and helped with the testing of the WinLink system, connecting sailors at sea with computers on land.  Tom was a private pilot, flying his Cessna cross-country and to the Bahamas.  He also enjoyed golfing, skiing, bridge, swimming and was an ardent fan of the Red Sox.

Most importantly, Tom gave his time and energy to his family and was dedicated to helping others through his volunteer activities with non-profit community organizations.

Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Saturday, July 21st from 9 to 11 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

His funeral service will be celebrated following the visitation at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery, Sutton.
