MILLBURY Thomas J. Queenan, 81, of 18 Washington St., died Wednesday, Sept. 13th in his home, after an illness.
He leaves a daughter, Sheila A. wife of William Hamilton of Millbury; a sister, Catherine wife of James Fisher of Webster and Florida; a step-grandson, Derek Hamilton of Boston; nephews and nieces. His former wife, G. Viola (Gwozdowski) Queenan died in March. He was born in Northbridge, son of Michael and Catherine (Gallivan) Queenan.
Tom was a salesman for the Tropical Banana Co. in Worcester for 15 years, retiring in 1975. He was an Army veteran during WW II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and received 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a life member of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post and was a former member of their board of directors, a former Commander, Sr. Vice Commander and Jr. Vice Commander of the Post and he was also a member of the Devoe-Taylor American Legion Post, both in Millbury.
His funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 15th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. PatrickTM)s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma 01701 or to the UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Member of the Charles F. Minney and the Devoe-Taylor Posts will meet at the funeral home for a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the calling hours.
