MILLBURY - Thomas M. Reilly, 61, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3rd at his home, after being stricken ill.
He leaves behind his wife, Judith L. (Brackett) Reilly; two children, Sarah A. (Reilly) Bartlett and her spouse Christopher E. Bartlett, and Diana Reilly; six siblings, Mary G. Hoover of Texas, Anne M. Reilly of Natick, Patty (Marie) Reilly of Virginia, Dona M. Butler of Lowell, Charlotte M. Ruskin of Natick and John P. Reilly of West Roxbury; and a granddaughter Persephone J. Bartlett whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas M. Reilly and Margaret C. (O'Donnell) Reilly.
Tom was a loving husband and father who enjoyed reading, constantly beating individuals at trivia and speaking his mind in his infamous article "Just A Thought Or Two" in the local newspaper. He was a beloved English teacher at Millbury High School for over 14 years. He loved supporting students above and beyond the call of teaching because it was in his heart. He attended as many extra-curricular activities that he could fit in his busy schedule so he could show his students that teachers supported all of their endeavors in and out of school. Tom was a hardworking journalist and reporter for the Millbury-Sutton Chronicle. Journalism was his passion and he was never shy or let politics get in the way with the honest truth of the towns he covered. His genuine and kind heart will be sorely missed.
Mr. Reilly's calling hours are 4 to 7p.m. Friday, January 6th at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St. in Millbury. His funeral service will follow at 7p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp EAGR c/o Michael Radell 1650 South Ave., Suite 300, Rochester, NY 14620.
