MILLBURY – Vyto P. Morkunas Sr. 82, died Sunday, Aug. 25th in his home, after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife, Anna (Alsankas) Morkunas; two sons, Vyto P. Morkunas Jr. and his wife Eileen of Paxton and John B. Morkunas of Millbury; three grandchildren, Vyto III, Mary and Julia. He was born and raised in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Barnardas and Antanina (Grigonis) Morkunas and a brother, Anthony Morkunas. He attended Worcester Boys Trade High School and he has lived in Millbury for 35 years.
Mr. Morkunas was a Mill Wright for Johnson Steel and Wire Co, for 35 years and he then worked at the Felter's Co. in Millbury before he retired. He was an Army veteran serving two years during the Korean War, in France. He was a member of St. Brigid Church, and was a fourth degree member of Council #26 Knights of Lithuania. He was a member of the American Legion Post #323, the Lithuanian Charitable Society and the Singletary Rod & Gun Club in Oxford.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27th, in the funeral home.
