MILLBURY – Wallace H. Stewart, 87, died Thursday, July 2nd at UMASS Memorial Marlborough Hospital, after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Mabel R. (Williams) Stewart; four children, Wally H. Stewart Jr. of Leicester, Rev. Susan L. Stewart of Williamstown, Mark R. Stewart of Millbury and Dan P. Stewart of Millbury; three grandchildren, Maria Burritt, Debra Stewart and Joan Stewart; a brother, Gordon Stewart of Wakefield, RI; nephew and nieces. He was born in Millbury, son of Haven and Mildred (Hairyes) Stewart.
Mr. Stewart was a cabinet maker and cabinet draftsman for many years, before he retired. He was an Army veteran during WW II serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member and past Adjutant of the Devoe-Taylor American Legion Post #9 and a member of the Millbury Baptist Church.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. A calling hour will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service, in the funeral home. Members of the Devoe-Taylor Post will meet at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday for a prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millbury Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
