Walter Oconnor

MILLBURY -Walter G. O'Connor, Sr., 64, of 6 Hollywood Ave., died Friday, March 14th in his home, after a long illness.

He leaves his loving wife of 42 years, Harriet E. (McKenzie) O'Connor; three daughters, Ann Marie wife of Robert Gentile of Douglas, Kelly wife of Michael Giacopello of Grafton and Stacey wife of Troy Forget of Millbury; among his many devoted nephews and nieces, are four nephews and two nieces, William O'Connor and his wife, Yiomara of Worcester, Thomas Prendiville Jr. of Holden, David Prendiville of Sterling, Michelle Cournoyer of Millbury, Tammy Prendiville of Worcester and Daniel Prendiville of Worcester; two brothers, Joseph O'Connor and John O'Connor both of Worcester; five sisters, Mary Prendiville and Donna Pickett of Worcester, Sheila Lorion of Maryland, Kathleen Coonan of Auburn and JoAnne McEntee of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Ashley and Allyson Gentile, Michael, Lauren and Steven Giacopello and Madison and Morgan Forget. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, John and Anna M. (Peletier) O'Connor, his loving and devoted son, Walter G. O'Connor Jr., a sister, Patricia Prendiville, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Harriet McKenzie, a nephew, Timothy O'Connor and a brother-in-law, Stanley Brown.

Walter was owner of O'Connor Brothers Contracting. He was a member of St. Brigid's Church for 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be in their hearts forever.

His funeral will be held Monday, March17th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 16th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walter G. O'Connor Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Holy Name High School, 144 Granite St., Worcester, MA 01604 or to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
