Wendy Lee Bergeron, 65, of Barre, MA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family, following a courageous 16-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on February 18, 1959, to George Poirier and the late Jean McGovern in Millbury, MA, where she spent her childhood and young adulthood. Wendy devoted much of her life to helping others, serving with compassion and dedication in the healthcare field until 2008, when she was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. Throughout her journey, Wendy faced each challenge with resilience, quiet dignity, and a fighting spirit that inspired everyone who knew her. She was a pillar of strength for her family, who meant everything to her. Wendy poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, finding immeasurable joy in their laughter, accomplishments, and love. Wendy’s legacy is one of strength, grace, and unconditional love.
Her spirited personality shone brightly, and her strong will was both a hallmark of her character and a testament to her unwavering determination to live life on her own terms. When Wendy set her mind to something, it was always her way. Wendy was a beautiful soul known for her generosity and devotion to her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones—whether on vacations, at family dinners at Grandma’s house, or simply cozying up on the couch to watch her favorite Hallmark movie in her robe. Wendy enjoyed staying up-to-date on the latest fashion trends and home decor tips from her favorite bloggers. Her love for Christmas was unmatched. Whether decorating her home, listening to holiday music, lighting her favorite “Tree Farm” candle, or watching the joy on her family’s faces as they opened gifts she had so carefully chosen, she created magical and lasting memories. When asked what she loved most about the holidays, her answer was always simple: her family being together.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Steven Bergeron of Barre, MA, and her four children: Rena Johnson and her husband, David Johnson, of New Brunswick, Canada; Stephanie Fernandes of Barre, MA; Adam Bergeron of Grafton, MA; and Mathew Bergeron and his fiancée, Yasmine Diaz, of Fitchburg, MA.
