William Blunt

William J. Blunt, 83, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Thursday June 19th, after a short illness. He was born in Providence RI., moving to Worcester at a young age and lived there until retirement. Bill served in the Army during the Korean War then worked for Wyman-Gordon Company in Worcester for 42 years retiring in 1992.

He is predeceased by his wife, Janet (LaPlante) Johnson Blunt¸ who died in 2003, his parents, John & Margaret (O'Malley) Blunt, his brother, John Blunt, and his sister, Margaret Kalagher. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Blunt and his wife, Gloria of Holden; his son, William J Blunt and wife, Mary Ellen of Millbury and a step-daughter Rhonda Johnson of Worcester; his grandchildren, William Blunt, Christina Blunt, Tara LaCoste and a great-grandson, Riley.

Bill enjoyed watching Boston sports teams, particularly the Celtics and especially loved following the comings and goings of his grandchildren. As a young man, he was an avid candlepin bowler and member of the U.S. Amateur Roller Skating Association.

The family would like to thank staff at the Millbury Health Care Center for their sensitive care over the past few weeks.

His funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury.

Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the funeral service Wednesday, in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millbury Dollars for Scholars, c/o Kelly Roy at the Millbury Savings Bank, 109 Elm St., Millbury, MA 01527.
