William Connor

MILLBURY - William P. Connor, 87, died Monday, Jan. 7th in St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester.

He leaves a brother, David Connor and his wife Kathy of Fitchburg; four sisters, Irene Elizabeth Sullivan of CT, Gladys Mae Gervais, Dorothy Wamback and Jean Gertrude Gagnon all of Worcester. He also leaves his legal guardians Thomas J. Fox, Jr. of Millbury and Ashley R. (Fox) Frustaci, and her husband Anthony of Worcester. He also leaves his Godchild, Lisa R. Fox of Northborough and also Eryca Rooney and her husband Justin of Auburn and Cassie Fox of Millbury, to all these he was known as "Uncle Billy". He also leaves a dear friend, Mike Francalangia of Millbury and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parent, Francis L. and Gladys (Turner) Connor and three brothers, John, Robert and Harold Connor.

He attended Worcester Boy's Trade High School and was involved in a group of boys called "Spearheads". He spent most of his life in Millbury, most recently living at the Woods at Eddy Pond in Auburn. He worked at Vellumoid Company before becoming a Court Officer in the Worcester Court House for 30 years, before he retired. He was a Navy veteran serving in WW II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and the Philippine Liberation. He was a member of the Charles F. Minney V.F.W. Post in Millbury and he loved playing golf and cards, with the "Guys" at the Clearview Country Club in Millbury. He formed fast friendships thanks to his wit and generosity of spirit. He had an instant ability to connect to others.

His funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 11th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury and a calling hour will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the American Diabetes Association, One Bromfield St. Boston, MA 02108.
