SUTTON – William E. Cressey, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 21st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Pearl I. (Holm) Cressey; a son, William E. Cressey Jr. and his wife, Janice of Dudley ; a daughter, Paula I. Marcangelo and her fiancé, James Barbuto of Hull; four grandchildren, Steven Marcangelo of FL, Marc, Eric and Craig Cressey all of Dudley; a sister, Arlene Woodcome of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews. William was born in Sutton, son of Frederick and Hazel (Hough) Cressey and is predeceased by a brother, Warren Cressey. Mr. Cressey graduated from Grafton High School.
He worked in sales at Millbury Motor Company for 25 years before he retired. He served in the Navy during WW II and was in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the Peace Treaty. William was a member of the Masons and a Past Master of Franklin Lodge in Grafton and also a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church in Sutton, where he served as a Deacon. William was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed snowmobiling and four wheeling. He had a big heart and loved his four grandchildren very much.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26th in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., on the common, in Sutton. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd, Sutton, MA 01590 or the Masonic Lodge, Masonic Temple, 55 North Main St., Grafton, MA 01536.
