SUTTON - William B. Crosby, 76, of 1551 Darlington Ave., Deltona, Florida, formerly of Central Turnpike, died Sunday July 14, in his home, after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife, Phyllis M. (Christian) Crosby; four sons, Richard W. Crosby of Sutton, Bruce F. Crosby of Boston, James M. Crosby of Merrimack, N. H. and Brian J. Crosby of Millbury; a sister, Barbara Trilligan of Vero Beach, Fl.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a brother, Donald M. Crosby. He was born in Sutton, son of Maynard and Elizabeth (Murray) Crosby and lived here until moving to Florida in 1988. He graduated from Sutton High School.
Mr. Crosby was a self employed contractor for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a former Treasurer for the town of Sutton and was a Marine veteran during WW II, serving in the Philippines.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church, a charter member and past commander of the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post and a member of the South Works Post Veterans of Foreign Wars in Worcester.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19 in the First Congregational Church, on the Common. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, (
