Bill loved the Lord and his church family at First Congregational Church of Douglas. He never wavered in his faith and shared his belief in Jesus with everyone. He would often say “absent from the body, present with the Lord”. He was a dedicated employee of Gurney Water Treatment for 44 years. He really had a passion for his job and had a great relationship with all his clients. Even after retiring due to his cancer, he welcomed calls with questions from his coworkers. He would light up when explaining how to best serve the client. He loved going to breakfast at Picket Fence. He loved hockey, especially when the Bruins were winning. He loved working in his garden. He loved nature, especially the many animals in our backyard and feeding the birds at our bird sanctuary. He loved camping at Papoose Pond with our kids and grandchildren. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was so proud of all 5 of our children and all of their accomplishments. He loved making people laugh and was often told that his smile would light up a room.
To my best friend and husband, I am so glad you are now pain free. I will do my best to keep up your gardening with Derek’s help of course. Will continue to collect the cookie cutter and lighthouse ornaments. Will continue to feed and enjoy the birds and squirrels. Of course, will enjoy camping at Papoose Pond with our kids and grandchildren. I will eventually make that cross-country RV trip with your ashes so we make the trip together like we planned. I will cherish every moment we had together. I will miss you forever until we see each other again in heaven. I love you always!
