MILLBURY - William W. ("Buster") Louis, Jr. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. He was born in Millbury on March 9, 1920, son of William W. Louis Sr. and Gene Mae (Eaton) Louis. He lived in Millbury and Sutton in his youth and resided in Millbury for the past 52 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Irene (Quarelli) Louis; two daughters, Barbara and husband Robert Roy, Marcia and husband Richard Landry both of Millbury; two sons, Ronald and wife Janice Louis of Millbury and Brian and wife Pamela Louis of Conover, N.C.; 9 grandchildren: Eric, Amy, Christine, Adam, Kristin, Katie, Andrew, Derek, Cody; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessika; a sister Vera and husband Robert Jodrey of Westborough and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his brother Harold Louis and sister Anna Louis, both of Sutton.
Mr. Louis graduated from Millbury High School in 1938. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and participated in the occupation of the Guadalcanal Island, the British Protectorate of the Solomon Islands, Rondova Island and the Marianna Islands.
Mr. Louis was the caretaker at "Sky Ranch" in Sutton, the estate owned by C.T. Lund. He was employed at the former New England High Carbon Wire Corp. for 23 years and retired as a custodian for the Town of Millbury School Dept. in 1985.
He was a member of St BrigidTM)s Church, a life member of Charles F. Minney VFW Post # 3329, the 1st Marine Division Association and 6th Division Association and was a retired U.S. steel worker.
His pastimes included square dancing, bowling, horseshoes, and especially his involvement in the Millbury VeteranTM)s Council programs.
A military funeral will be held Wednesday, March 2nd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1st, in the funeral home. Veterans will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home for a prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to he Millbury VeteranTM)s Council, 127 Elm Street, Millbury, Mass. 01527.
